Position : Design Manager

Salary : up to $210k

Location : Melbourne or Sydney

Design & Build has partnered with a leading EPC business on some of Australia's key energy transition projects, including multi-million-dollar developments involving solar, BESS, transmission & substations.

Key responsibilities

  • Design management : Leading a multidisciplinary design team to deliver the high-quality technical project on time.
  • Stakeholder management : Liaising with client, internal and external teams, and construction to ensure alignment and integration of design solutions.
  • Cost management : Monitoring and controlling design expenditures using robust tracking systems to optimise budgets and prevent overruns.
  • Design governance : Ensuring all deliverables meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards through effective QA processes.
  • Technical oversight : Directing primary & secondary design, conducting design reviews, and collaborating with external consultants on electrical studies.

    • What you’ll bring

  • Proven experience as a Design Manager on major energy infrastructure projects (HV / EHV substations).
  • Primary design engineering experience
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g. Bachelor of Engineering)
  • CPEng or working towards it
  • Membership (or eligibility) with a relevant engineering body (e.g. Engineers Australia)
