THE ROLE
With a restructure and business plan to accommodate growth in their pipeline of work, and now projecting career succession, the business is now seeking a Company Accountant / Secretary to work directly with the GM and Finance Manager.
Finance
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations,
- Rectify inconsistencies, along with GL, to fixed assets register.
- Enter cost journals, accruals, pre-payments,
- Champion “end of month” asset database
- Prepare documentation for group insurance renewals.
- Attend and contribute to weekly finance team meetings.
- Assist with integrating accounting software into SOPs
Compliance
Prepare / submit ABS returns working to timelinesAssist with year-end Group income tax calculations.Prepare monthly GST compliance and BAS returnsCollect and organise documentation for group tax returns.Update the chart of accounts quarterly to reflect business activities.Finalise end-of-year group statutory accounts.Monitor and assess expenditures for FBT calculations.Cashflow Management
Assist Accounts Payable with resolving complex issues.Process payments for utilities, leases, and outgoings.Assist with preparing and arranging bank guarantees from financial institutions.Monitor high-interest accounts / transfer funds to meet cash flow needs.Arrange Group EFT payments on schedule.Track debtors / coordinate collection of overdue accountsMaintain records of monthly dividend transactionsReporting
Prepare Budget vs Actual reports with variances for review.Assist with cost analysis, identifying trends and improve practices.Prepare weekly cash-flow reports and forecasts for review.Track monthly progress against budgets.Review monthly project accruals and job costsUpdate daily cashflow status and report.Support
Oversee control, security, and filing of finance documents.Support and assist with Accounting Software applications.Assist department managers with annual budget preparation.Help Cost Account Manager prepare Job Costing Reports.Act as Business Partner to department heads, providing financial guidance and reporting on P&L, Capex, and projects.Payroll
Prepare and process payroll, liaising with HR on Industrial Instruments, contracts, and legislation, PAYG summaries for ATO review.Assist with timely year-end preparationManage tax exemptions on company purchases.THE ESSENTIALS
Formal accounting certification (CA or CPA) is required.Proven experience 3 years, as a company accountant in a medium to large business environment is essential.Strong ability to work with ERP or similar accounting systems, with the adaptability to learn new processes quickly.Ability to develop and structure procedures and work systems that accurately reflect departmental functions is fundamental.Proficient in MYOB, Excel, Microsoft Office, and Word.THE APPLICATION
