About the Role
The Salvation Army (TSA) Independent Schools provide a small, supportive learning environment for vulnerable young people seeking to re-engage with education and build pathways to a meaningful future.
As a Teacher , you will support students in Years 10–12 to work towards high school completion through Australian Curriculum, QCAA and vocational learning pathways . You will work as an educational guide and positive role model, collaborating closely with youth workers and education support officers to foster students’ academic, social, moral and vocational growth .
A genuine passion for supporting young people to develop resilience, curiosity, respect, responsibility and a love of learning is essential.
How You Will Make an Impact
Build positive, supportive relationships with students, families and community stakeholders
Work collaboratively within a triad team to support each student through targeted teaching and individual learning goals
Foster social-emotional development, resilience and transferable life skills
Contribute to stakeholder meetings and teacher communities to co-design interventions and monitor progress
Establish and maintain a high-support, high-challenge classroom culture
Develop, implement and review Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and SET Plans
Track and support student progress toward a QCE and / or personalised post-school goals
Differentiate curriculum and adjust learning programs to meet diverse student needs
Enrich learning through creative, real-world experiences, particularly through arts and language
Engage in ongoing professional development and reflective practice to continually improve teaching and learning
What You Will Bring
Current teacher registration with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT)
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) and experience in training (desirable)
Experience working in special assistance or alternative education settings
Willingness to teach across multiple subject areas
Strong explicit teaching practice (I do, we do, you do)
Sound knowledge of the Australian Curriculum (AC v9) and QCAA requirements
A strong commitment to supporting students with cognitive and / or social-emotional needs to thrive, grounded in principles of equity and excellence
