Overview
Urban Utilities delivers drinking water and wastewater services to Brisbane, Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Somerset and Scenic Rim. The Senior Electrical Engineer will support our Infrastructure Planning & Delivery group within the Engineering and Professional Services (EPS) team, ensuring electrical, instrumentation, and control aspects of capital projects meet safety and performance standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide day‑to‑day technical assurance of all capital projects through electrical, instrumentation and control disciplines.
- Support specialised commissioning teams, applying hands‑on know‑how to ensure project deliverables meet design integrity and safety requirements.
- Perform technical assurance from concept, market engagement and detailed design right through to operational readiness and handover.
- Utilise the Technical Assurance Framework (TAF) and Safety in Design (SiD) procedures for risk‑based prioritisation.
- Mentor junior staff and collaborate with the principal electrical and controls engineers.
Qualifications
Prior electrical engineering experience in a brownfield or operational environment within an industrial sector such as water, petrochemical, energy or mining.A critical thinker who builds strong stakeholder relationships and aligns objectives for desired outcomes.Strong problem‑solving skills with a focus on safety, risk, innovation, sustainability and customer outcomes.Detailed understanding of Australian standards and regulations for water‑industry electrical, instrumentation and control systems.Proficiency in power‑system modelling, protection coordination, arc‑flash and fault‑level studies.Tertiary education in Engineering and RPEQ status (or eligible to obtain).Why Urban Utilities?
