About the Role

A local government authority located in the north-western suburbs is looking for a Community Safety Officer on a temporary basis.

This position is responsible for improving community wellbeing and safety, by fulfilling regulatory obligations through education and enforcement. They key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to :

  • Assist in the development and implementation of educational programs to increase awareness and protect public health and safety
  • Provide technical advice to the public on community safety matters
  • Interpret and apply legislation under the Dog and Cat Management Act including seizing and impounding any stray, lost or dangerous dogs
  • Interpret and apply the Australian Road Rules and Regulations
  • Process and issue expiation notices for breaches of relevant legislation
  • Accurate, timely and appropriate management of customer enquiries via the Customer Request System, in line with legislative and Council requirements
  • Provide efficient, prompt and accurate customer information services either in person, via the telephone or by correspondence.
  • About You :

  • Certificate IV Regulatory Service or relevant experience in related discipline
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a Community Inspector (or equivalent) within a Local Government context
  • First Aid Certificate (or willing to obtain)
  • A TGA approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine
  • Seasonal Influenza vaccination (or willing to obtain)
  • Current Class 1 Drivers License
