Senior Software Engineer, EOS - Sydney

Job Description

You’ll be a core member of the Extensible Operating System (EOS) team in Sydney, a fast‑paced, high‑calibre global team building the software that runs the world’s largest data centre networks. Your team is responsible for all aspects of developing and delivering the foundational networking features that run on all of Arista’s switching products.

You will work with fellow engineers and members of the marketing team to gather and understand the functional and technical requirements for upcoming projects. You will help write functional specifications, design specifications, test plans, and the code to bring all of these to life. You will also work with customers to triage and fix problems in their networks. Internally, you will develop automated tests for your software, monitor their execution, and triage and fix problems found by your tests.

What You’ll Do

• Architect and develop innovative networking features in C / C++ and Python for Arista’s unique, Linux‑based EOS.
• Collaborate with product management, customers, and fellow engineers to define functional requirements and technical designs for new EOS capabilities.
• Take full ownership of your work by writing functional specifications, design documents, test plans, and the automated tests needed to ensure robust, high‑quality code.
• Provide technical leadership, contribute to code reviews, and mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of high‑quality engineering.
• Work directly with Customer Support Engineers to triage, debug, and resolve complex issues found in customer networks.
