Join Deputy as an Engineering Manager, Generative AI. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will lead a team of engineers with varied experience, driving a high-performing engineering organization focused on Generative AI, autonomous agents, and scalable AI-powered features for the Deputy platform.

Responsibilities
- Mentor, develop, and guide a team of software engineers to enable their best work.
- Lead the recruitment of engineers within the team to build a world-class, sustainable, diverse engineering organization.
- Own the Engineering Team Engagement score through an interactive, learning-oriented engineering community.
- Lead from a technical position, developing an intimate understanding of the architecture and contributing to the platform’s future direction; initial months may include individual contributor work.
- Co-create the technical vision, strategy, and roadmaps for your team with senior engineers, PMs, and product designers.
- Drive scalability, reliability, and architectural decisions; stay technical to provide meaningful guidance.
- Define and execute the long-term GenAI strategy, including agent-oriented architectures, prompt engineering, and responsible AI practices.
- Collaborate with Infrastructure, Platform Quality, Product, and Design to deliver high-quality AI-enabled features and autonomous agents for the Deputy platform.
- Drive high performance, provide coaching and feedback, and communicate the business vision and goals to the team.
Qualifications & Skills
4+ years of software engineering management experience, with a track record of building productive, high-functioning teams.10+ years in software development, including leadership roles, with a focus on AI / ML systems.Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to articulate complex GenAI concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.Experience in a fast-growing scale-up environment; bonus for multi-tenant SaaS experience.Growth mindset, ambition, and high agency; comfortable navigating rapid change and complex challenges.Deep SaaS experience across domains with understanding of how AI agents solve business problems.Proven ability to introduce new technologies and govern GenAI practices; strong architectural and strategic vision.Experience building GenAI, LLMs, and agent-based systems; prompt engineering and agent orchestration familiarity.Proficiency with Python; familiarity with Go, PHP, Terraform; frontend (JavaScript / TypeScript, VueJS) and mobile (Swift, Kotlin) knowledge is a plus.Experience with AWS Bedrock or similar foundation models and cloud architectures; strong focus on data privacy and security.Tech Lead & Leadership expectations
