Lead high-impact network projects focused on performance, reliability, and security Senior Network Engineer Location : Canberra Airport, ACT Employment Type : Permanent Salary : Market Competitive (based on experience) About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain complex network infrastructures across a range of environments.
This role offers the opportunity to work on advanced network projects, enhance system performance, and ensure security and reliability across all infrastructure layers.
Key Responsibilities Design and architect network solutions to meet diverse client requirements.
Plan and implement network infrastructure upgrades and expansions.
Configure and optimise network protocols such as TCP / IP, OSPF, BGP, and MPLS .
Monitor network performance and availability using network management tools.
Identify and resolve network issues including connectivity, latency, and bandwidth challenges.
Implement and maintain robust network security measures — firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls.
Install and configure network equipment (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points).
Perform routine maintenance, firmware updates, patch management, and equipment replacement.
Plan and execute infrastructure upgrades to improve performance and security.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for network-related issues.
Collaborate closely with clients to translate their networking needs into actionable solutions.
Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, network diagrams, and processes.
Lead and manage network-related projects to ensure timely, high-quality delivery.
Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
Monitor and meet service-level commitments as defined in SLAs.
Key Skills Experience (Essential) 7+ years of IT experience with deep expertise in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex network infrastructure.
Proven ability to design scalable and reliable network architectures aligned with client needs and industry best practices.
Experience implementing and supporting Azure solutions , including Microsoft Office 365, Azure AD, and SharePoint .
Hands-on experience with virtualisation technologies such as VMWare, AHV, Hyper-V, and KVM .
Certifications : CCNA, CCNP, NSE4.
Strong understanding of routing protocols — OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, and RIP.
In-depth knowledge of network security , including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, VPNs, and access controls.
Proficiency with firewalls — FortiGate, Sophos, WatchGuard, Meraki .
Expertise in a wide range of network equipment (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless access points).
Familiarity with various network technologies, protocols, and standards .
Experience working in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment is highly desirable.
