PARTNER has been exclusively engaged by ATC Williams, a leading Australian consulting engineering and environmental services firm, to appoint a WA Operations Manager to lead and grow its Western Australian business.
With more than 40 years' experience and offices across Australia and South America, ATC Williams is recognised for its technical excellence in tailings, water and waste management for the mining and resources sector – and for a genuinely collaborative, caring culture.
Western Australia is a priority growth region, and this role represents a rare opportunity to help build something over time, not just step into a static operation.
The Opportunity
Based in Perth, the WA Operations Manager will take a strategic and hands-on leadership role in shaping ATC Williams' next chapter in WA.
This is not simply an operational management role – it's a chance to :
Partner closely with the Executive team to design and deliver a clear growth strategy for WA
Strengthen and expand the local client base and market presence
Build a self-sustaining, high-performing Perth operation with a strong team culture
You will have real autonomy to drive change, create opportunity and make a visible contribution to the firm's future direction in the state.
ATC Williams is committed to setting this role up for success.
Co-designed support structure – The role will be shaped around your strengths, whether they are in client development, people leadership, operational delivery, financial management or project management, with the right support built around you.
Executive presence in WA – The CTO will be on the ground in WA to work alongside you, providing local support, leadership presence, and strong relationships across the mining sector.
Ongoing leadership access – You'll have regular access to the Executive team and dedicated People & Culture support.
Genuine flexibility – ATC Williams offers flexibility to help you maintain balance and sustainability over the long term.
About You
You are on an upward career trajectory and ready to step into a broader operational and leadership role where your impact is visible and valued.
Your technical & sector experience
You are likely to bring :
Significant technical experience in tailings engineering and mine waste management, ideally complemented by exposure to water and waste in the mining and resources sector
Experience in the mining and resources industry, ideally within Western Australia or comparable jurisdictions
Exposure to, or accountability for, operations, project delivery and financial performance – even if your current role is not yet a full operations lead
A proven track record of delivering quality outcomes for clients, and contributing to business development, proposals and client growth
You may currently be a discipline lead, regional lead, senior principal or equivalent, looking for the next step where you can own and grow a business unit.
People leadership
You are a people-focused leader who enjoys growing others as much as delivering projects yourself.
You :
Lead by example and set clear expectations around quality, safety and professionalism
Invest in coaching, mentoring and developing engineers and consultants at different career stages
Are comfortable building and shaping a team – attracting talent, creating a positive culture and enabling people to do their best work
Communicate clearly and respectfully, and are able to influence without ego
Your approach to clients & growth
You enjoy being close to clients and the market.
You :
Take a partnership approach to client relationships, focused on understanding business drivers and long-term needs
Are confident representing your organisation in front of clients, at industry events and in the broader market
Are commercially astute, balancing technical excellence with practical, value-adding outcomes
See business development as a natural extension of delivering great work and building trust
Cultural Fit
ATC Williams offers something different from many larger corporates.
As a 100% employee-owned business, decisions are made with people in mind, not external shareholders.
The firm combines the impact and reach of a national consultancy with a small-company feel, where every person's contribution matters.
You are likely to be someone who :
Values a collaborative, respectful and caring environment over a hard-edged corporate culture
Wants genuine autonomy within a supportive framework – the space to lead, with backing from an experienced Executive team
Is motivated by the chance to grow a team, grow a business and grow as a leader in parallel
Next Steps
This is a rare opportunity to take a pivotal leadership role in a respected, values-driven consultancy and shape the future of its Western Australian business.
