Overview
Senior Associate | Business Operational Risk Manager - MacCap Equities APAC
Join our equities business in Sydney, as an integral partner in a fast-paced environment, ensuring operational risk is effectively identified and managed in relation to new and existing business lines. Our equities business combines deep local expertise with a global perspective to deliver exceptional outcomes for institutional and corporate clients. This is an opportunity to be at the forefront of a market-leading business, ensuring proactive and robust risk management. This role involves implementing Macquarie’s Risk Management Framework within the Equities business across Australia and New Zealand, with some crossover into the broader APAC region.
You’ll work closely with the business to navigate day-to-day operational risk challenges, applying policies and procedures while gaining exposure to a wide array of products and jurisdictions. The role offers significant scope for learning and growth, with hands-on experience across 13 jurisdictions within the Asia-Pacific region and a mature yet evolving product suite. In-office attendance is required for this role 3+ days per week.
At Macquarie, our advantage is bringing together diverse people and empowering them to shape possibilities. We are a global financial services group operating in 31 markets with a history of profitability. You’ll be part of a friendly and supportive team where everyone contributes ideas and drives outcomes.
What role will you play?
As part of the First Line of Defence, you will play a key role in supporting the team across APAC, with a primary focus on ANZ. Your responsibilities will include conducting deep-dive reviews of business processes and changes, investigating and managing issues and incidents (operational and behaviour related), surveillance escalations, and ensuring sustainable solutions to address root causes. You’ll prepare operational risk management reports and perform secretariat tasks for certain risk-related committees, deliver training to foster a strong risk culture, and perform control assurance testing to identify and mitigate risks. Collaborating closely with teams across the business, including Compliance, Finance, Operations, and IT, you’ll support the implementation of new initiatives, conduct risk assessments, and contribute to periodic risk workshops. Your work will drive operational risk awareness and continuous improvement across the Business, with opportunities to engage in a variety of ad hoc projects.
