Expected Salary : between $70,000.00 to $76,515.00 (plus superannuation) depending on level of experience.

Peninsula Eye Optometrists, located in the heart of Frankston, is a reputable and community-focused independent optometry practice dedicated to providing exceptional patient care and high-quality eyewear solutions.
We are seeking a Full-Time Optical Dispenser / Dispensing Optician to join our friendly and professional team. This is an ongoing position offering 38 hours per week, with workdays typically spanning Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (9am–5pm), Tuesday (10 : 30am–7pm), and Saturday as rostered.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting patients throughout their optical journey – from frame selection and fitting to ongoing care – ensuring every patient receives the best possible visual outcomes and service experience.
Responsibilities
- Guide patients from entry, assisting with frame selection, lens fittings, frame adjustments and repairs, contributing to providing optimal visual outcomes and patient experience.
- Problem solve and troubleshoot issues, including any customer service issues.
- Cut and edge lenses, including fitting of Nylon and Silhouette frames.
- Teach contact lens hygiene.
- Carry out administration duties and ensure all operations run smoothly.
- Delegate tasks within the team and communicate effectively with management.
- Operate visual field machine, OCT and corneal topographer.
- Use Optomate, Canva, and Xero accounting software to enter invoices and banking – a must.
- Participate in day‑to‑day practice operations, including patient assistance, sales, and administration.
- Window styling.
- Recommend frame options based on prescriptions, fashion, lifestyle and visual needs.
- Maintain impeccable practice presentation and merchandise.
Qualifications & Work Experience
Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing (or equivalent) is essential.Minimum of 5 years’ experience in optical dispensing.Prior experience working in independent optometry practices preferred.Skills & Knowledge
Strong customer service orientation with a professional and approachable demeanour.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.Reliability, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards.Competence in optical equipment operation and lens fitting.Familiarity with software tools including Optomate, Xero, and Canva.Confidence in website editing and social media posting.Organisational and multitasking abilities, ensuring a smooth workflow within the practice.If you are a motivated Optical Dispenser with a passion for helping patients achieve their best vision in a welcoming, professional environment, we would love to hear from you.
