Job Opportunity :

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for a Property claims professional with experience in Industrial Special Risk placements, including complex business interruption, Commercial and Corporate Property and Strata claims. The role reports to the Claims Manager, Property and is based in our Sydney office.

We are seeking an individual who is intelligent, passionate and who is always striving towards excellence. This role will be a great opportunity for an experienced Claims professional to expand their scope of experience in a highly collaborative team environment dedicated to providing best in class claims service.

Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Managing a broad portfolio of claims and providing high levels of customer service and technical claims management with a proactive approach to achieving strong results for insureds.
  • Collaboration with the broader BHSI Property team including risk engineering and underwriting on claims trends, portfolio development, policy wordings and risk issues.
  • Being a market face of Property claims for BHSI and working together with customers, brokers and vendors to drive claims to timely and appropriate solutions.
  • Ensure high levels of customer service and technical claim file quality with a proactive approach to achieving an optimal result for all parties; develop your own skill set through learning, development and engagement.
  • Providing professional input into the delivery of BHSI’s plans, goals and objectives.
  • Build relationships of trust with BHSI’s customers and broker partners, with as needed travel to client / broker meetings, site, inspections, mediations, conferences, and other industry events.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience :

  • Minimum of 5 years of corporate / commercial property claims handling experience; including business interruption.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment.
  • A high level of professionalism and personal responsibility.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, loss adjusting designations or matching equivalency required.
