Position Summary :
The Chipper Operator / EWP operator carries out tree services and maintenance works by use of chainsaws, wood chippers, stump grinders and other ancillary equipment as directed. Including emergency works.
Key Requirements :
Identify hazards and implement safe operating proceduresSafely cross-cut fallen timber using compression and tension cuts with a hand held chainsawDemonstrate safe and environmentally responsible workplace practicesObtain relevant licenses and permitsRead and interpret manufacturer's specifications, work and maintenance plans, and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs)Effectively communicate information, interpret and apply task instructions, and maintain records and reportsEstimate and measure dimensions, and calculate volumesRecognize caution or hazard signs and symbolsInterpret tasks or information from labels, manuals or written instructionsRecord information accurately or verbally report informationUse literacy skills to follow sequenced written instructions and record information accurately and legiblyUse oral communication skills / language competence to fulfil the job role as specified by the organisation including questioning, active listening, asking for clarification and seeking advice from supervisorUse numeracy skills to estimate, calculate and record routine workplace measuresUse interpersonal skills to relate to people from a range of social, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and with a range of physical and mental abilitiesJob Responsibility :
To undertake wood Chipping duties as directedTo undertake herbicide treatment for worksTo assist all persons when / where possible in a courteous, helpful and respectful manner at all timesTo liaise with the Team Leader and keep him / her fully informed regarding appropriate issues.When required, to drive / operate a vehicle / item of plant, in accordance with the current traffic regulations and health and safety policies and practicesTo undertake and participate in daily toolbox meetings and site specific risk assessmentsTo undertake such other duties and responsibilities of a similar skill level as may reasonably be requiredTo safely and efficiently use a EWP.Job Functions : Arbourist
