Overview
Nestled at the tip of Cape York Peninsula, Northern Peninsula Area State College serves the culturally rich communities of Bamaga, Injinoo, Umagico, New Mapoon, and Seisia. This K–12 college spans three campuses, offering a truly immersive educational experience aligned with strong Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage, and providing teachers with meaningful, career-defining opportunities.
The Northern Peninsula Area State College communities consist of people who identify strongly with Aboriginal culture, Torres Strait Islander culture and non-indigenous cultures. Many local families originate from Saibai Island and Badu Island, as well as many other islands in the Torres Strait. Currently it has approximately 60 registered teachers in teaching and administrative roles throughout all the campuses. Strong links with TAFE have been developed. The College will continue to grow and adapt to provide a quality education service in one of the most remote centres of Queensland.
