Job Description

As Practice Manager, you will be responsible for day-to-day management of the practice and be the primary point of contact for the doctors, allied health practitioners, nurses, receptionists, and practice owners.

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day management of the practice.
  • Ensure the provision of quality customer service by the team.
  • Resolve IT, GP, employee and patient issues as they arise.
  • Act as a positive role model to the team and provide direction and supervision to staff.
  • Create a positive workplace culture and optimise staff and GP performance and job satisfaction.
  • Recruitment, induction, training and development, and performance management.
  • Rostering and staff payroll.
  • HR documentation and compliance.
  • Identify opportunities for practice growth and improvements in workplace efficiency.
  • Ensure the patient recall system remains up to date and nurses are being effectively utilised.
  • Coordinate and lead administrative and clinical meetings.
  • Payment reconciliations (private, Medicare, RTWSA).
  • Debtor management.
  • Accreditation, compliance, and risk management.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy and safe work environment.

Industry Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in General Practice.
  • Ideally experience working as a Practice Manager or Team Leader within a busy General Practice.
  • Sound understanding of compliance, AGPAL accreditation & legislative requirements relevant to General Practice.
  • Understanding of the commercial aspects of General Practice.
  • Experience using Best Practice, recalls and reminder software, and Microsoft Office.

  • A growth mindset, adaptable and open to new ideas, and a commitment to professional development.
  • A tendency to minimise issues rather than amplify them.
  • Ability to promptly resolve minor IT issues (professional IT support is available).
  • Basic financial management skills and understanding of the legal and regulatory environment.
  • Competent user of Best Practice, Automed, and Microsoft Office.
  • Basic knowledge of medical procedures, terminology and equipment.
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate & CPR Certificate.
