Nollamara Primary School (PS is seeking a strategic and innovative leader to join our leadership team in the position of Deputy Principal.

The vision at Nollamara PS is “Together we strive to provide opportunities and empower our students to reach their social, emotional and academic potential through inspiring them in a safe and supportive environment”. The successful applicant will work closely as part of the Executive Leadership Team to provide educational leadership within the school and community to promote and develop the school’s vision and strategic directions.

We are seeking a positive, passionate, dedicated, empathetic, and reflective Leader who is committed to maximising student outcomes. The successful applicant will be knowledgeable in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), evidence-based pedagogies to address barriers to learning and the application of these skills for students with diverse cultural backgrounds.

The successful applicant will have strong knowledge, understanding and capacity to lead functional behaviour analysis across the school context, including providing coaching and modelling of this to staff. Ideally the applicant will have extensive knowledge of leading students at educational risk case management and external agency liaising to support individual student needs.

Nollamara PS has excellent facilities to cater for students' educational, social and physical needs. We recognise and value the cultural diversity of our school community. Nollamara PS’s Intensive English Program consists of approximately 90 students. We cater for a variety of students who hold both permanent and temporary residency status. Both the IEC and the main school are fully integrated and work in harmony and the Deputy Principal would be expected to provide leadership across the school.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work-related requirements :

  • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
  • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
  • Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students ( Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
  • Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

    Employees will be required to :

  • Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
  • Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
