Registered Nurse – Acute Neuroscience Unit (Targeted)

Remuneration : $36.39 – $51.09 per hour + 12% super + salary packaging

Employment Type : Permanent Full Time, Permanent Part Time, Temporary Full Time, Temporary Part Time

Hours per Week : Up to 38

Location : John Hunter Hospital, New Lambton Heights, New South Wales, Australia

About the Role

As a Registered Nurse in our Acute Neuroscience Unit, you’ll be part of a dynamic and specialised 32‑bed ward comprising 10 Close Observation beds and 22 General Ward beds. Our unit provides expert care for patients with a range of neurosurgical, neurological, and acute stroke conditions. You will join a collaborative and knowledgeable team that prides itself on support, mentorship, and continuous learning.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to acute neuroscience patients.
  • Utilise assessment, clinical decision‑making, and critical thinking skills in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated care.
  • Participate in hand‑over and shift hand‑over meetings.
  • Document patient care accurately and timely.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and competency activities.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team.
  • Flexibility and reliability, able to work a variety of shifts across a seven‑day roster.
  • Previous experience in neuroscience nursing is highly regarded but not essential.
