As a Wildlife Officer you will be required to plan and prioritise wildlife entries across Huon’s Marine Operations and complete regular and detailed audits of pens and Zone infrastructure.
The role
Reporting to the Marine Operations Manager, the Wildlife Officer identifies risks and will implement strategies to maintain the welfare and barrier between wildlife and stock. This position will :
- Assist in the prevention of wildlife breaches and damage to our infrastructure, ensuring adherence to all internal and external regulatory bodies.
- Undertake quality control checks and preventative maintenance of infrastructure, providing accurate reports and communicating outcomes to stakeholders.
- Work as part of a small team, ensuring all operations are conducted in a safe and timely manner.
This is a full-time opportunity operating on a 2 on 2 off, 5 on 5 off roster.
About you
Strong understanding of DPIPWE and animal welfare guidelines.Excellent problem-solving skills with sound judgement and the ability to think quickly on your feet.Comfortable working independently and show initiative to achieve outcomes.Strong ability to adapt, deal with uncertainty, and remain calm in a changing environment.A valid and current Coxswains ticket or willingness to obtain.Benefits of joining Huon
