An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Operational Risk Manager to contribute to a major player in Sydney’s financial sector. In this role, you will take responsibility for the execution and oversight of operational risk activities, working closely with key internal stakeholders to support critical business objectives.
Based in Sydney, you will join a high-performing team responsible for providing operational risk oversight, advisory, and support across the business. This role is well suited to a resilient professional who is comfortable working independently in a dynamic environment, engaging closely with stakeholders to deliver on risk management objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Providing expert operational risk advice and constructive challenge to business units and key projects.Conducting thematic analysis of emerging risks and performing deep-dive reviews to identify systemic issues.Driving the enhancement and execution of the control assurance program.Overseeing the management of incidents and issues, ensuring root cause analysis is performed and valuable lessons are learned.Contributing to the development and continuous improvement of the Operational Risk Management Framework.Preparing data-driven reports and insights for executive committees and senior leadership.Building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the organisation.Essential Experience and Skills
6+ years of dedicated experience in operational risk management within financial services industry.In-depth knowledge of the Australian regulatory landscape, including a strong understanding of APRA prudential standards (e.g., CPS 230).Demonstrated experience in providing risk advisory, managing assurance activities, and overseeing incident management.Proven ability to work autonomously, take initiative, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to influence and challenge senior leaders.A proactive and solution-oriented mindset, with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as finance, law, or business is required.This is an exceptional opportunity to play a key role within the risk function of a major financial institution and contribute your expertise within a dynamic, high performing business.
