Overview
Suburban Connect is a consortium of global leaders in tunnelling including CPB Contractors, Ghella and Acciona Construction delivering the Tunnels South package on Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East, on behalf of Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA).
We have a broad range of roles available to build our diverse and inclusive workforce, including construction and engineering, planning and environmental management, corporate support, administration, communications and many others. SRL East from Cheltenham to Box Hill is now under construction, with tunnelling to start in 2026 and trains to be running by 2035. Suburban Connect is constructing the 16 kms of tunnels between Cheltenham and Glen Waverley using 4 tunnel boring machines and a range of excavation methods. The works also include 55 cross passages, 2 tunnel portal structures, 2 station box excavations and associated supports.
Responsibilities
As the Project Manager (Risk & Safety) , you will be responsible for :
- Managing a portfolio of support functions and relevant subject matter experts to ensure the project meets and exceeds its contractual and regulatory requirements including but not limited to risk, data analytics, training, safety and health / wellbeing.
- Assisting in business transformation to build efficiencies through centralisation and process improvements, leverage digital to drive innovation and empower our teams with the right capability to deliver strategic solutions across functions.
- Ensuring the achievement of project key result area (KRA) targets through cost efficiency, timeline adherence and quality standards.
- Driving functional continuous improvement of subcontractors by assessing the effectiveness & efficiency of operations, initiating performance improvement plans and managing change.
- Reshaping a risk management framework with a focus on operational risks flowing upward and downward through risk levels leveraging digital libraries and industry lessons learnt.
- Supporting a training team to develop industry leading training programs and accredited units to leave a legacy for the construction industry.
- Manage a multi-disciplinary governance and compliance team to ensure work imagined is in line with work delivered.
Qualifications and Key Skills
Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Engineering, Safety, Risk, Environment or similar.Management and leadership (5 years)Desirable experience (5+ years) in Construction and / or heavy industry and high-risk workplaces.Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams including ensuring alignment between business needs and technical execution.Strong capability in risk management, project financials, cost forecasting and project managementProven record of organisational, reporting, and problem-solving skills.Excellent client-facing communication and stakeholder managementA collaborative leadership style, able to inspire and coach high-performing teams.Desirable – Safety, Environment or Quality previous field experienceWe support diversity in the workplace.
