About us

The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.

About the role

Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV) is Victoria's consumer regulator.

Investigation Services delivers compliance and enforcement functions including investigating businesses and individuals alleged to have breached consumer protection law in Victoria.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the role of a Project Officer is responsible for supporting the core operational requirements of the branch and the delivery of its program of work.

This role will assist with the development, implementation and monitoring of the learning and development initiatives, related continuous improvement practices and relevant projects within the branch.

The Project Officer works with key internal stakeholders across the branch and wider division.

About you

To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate :

  • Assesses situations and identifies the best systems tools for analysing, understanding the system and addressing problems
  • Resolves issues through deep understanding or interpretation of existing guidelines. Where guidelines are not available, analyses ideas available and takes action through self, or in consultation with others to resolve problems
  • Defines tasks to be delivered to meet agreed outcomes; coordinates and guides others in the execution of work activities; monitors progress of tasks against plans and takes corrective action when required
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting integrated business functions in a regulatory environment a would be highly regarded.

Key accountabilities

  • Support and contribute to the workforce planning and optimisation incorporating recognised scheduling principles and disciplines so as to utilise available capability most efficiently
  • Initiative and / or contribute to the development of learning and development collateral that enable the development of staff within Investigation Services branch
  • Contribute to and maintain relevant learning and development and continuous improvement tools, documentation and reports.
  • Assist in providing effective workforce planning, work allocation practices and recruitment within the branch.
  • Support Operations Manager and the General Manager, Investigation Services in building the capabilities and confidence of staff; identifying and capitalising on the diversity of staff thinking, backgrounds and prior experience.
  • Prepare briefings, correspondence and proposals for and managers within the branch and wider RSD as applicable, which may involve integrating information from a variety of sources in a time-pressured environment.
