The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity available at the EPA for an Assistant Technical Advisor within the specialist area of chemicals, pesticides and the regulation of dangerous goods transport.

As the Assistant Technical Advisor, you would provide technical support services on chemicals, pesticides and dangerous goods, including compliance work and advice to protect the community and environment. This role also contributes to projects that develop, reform, and implement operational policy, systems, and processes that support, and guide the EPA’s regulatory frameworks.

About You

You will be an outcomes focused passionate advocate for the EPA and you will :

  • Have knowledge of the legislative and policy frameworks for pollution control in NSW, especially in relation to pesticides, chemicals and / or dangerous goods
  • Be able to write and prepare material, such as emails, letters and reports, that is well structured, easy to follow and is in plain English
  • Be able to clearly explain and present ideas and arguments verbally and in writing based on research and analysis of information, including scientific information and data
  • Be able to address queries and provide advice under supervision in a timely manner
  • Have strong computer skills including in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Be able to prioritise your own workload with support, and plan and deliver tasks in line in agreed timeframes
  • Ideally have a qualification / s in chemicals and / or pesticides and / or have relevant experience in chemistry, pesticides and / or dangerous goods.

    The Chemicals and Pesticides team is a dedicated team of technical experts who work to protect the environment and people from harm by providing evidence based, world-class advice on the regulation of chemicals, pesticides and the regulation of dangerous goods transport.
