Huron is expanding its Belfast-based remote delivery centre to establish a centre of excellence for high‑impact Finance Transformation projects. We are seeking functional finance experts who speak the language of the CFO office and can translate complex financial strategies into world‑class technology solutions.
This role is designed for professionals with a strong foundation in Accounting, FP&A, or Finance Operations who want to apply their domain expertise to the world of cloud technology. You will be a key player in our European practice, bridging the gap between technical configuration and strategic financial objectives. We provide robust support, cutting‑edge tools (Oracle, Workday, OneStream), and global resources to empower you to deliver transformative results.
Your Role :
A Functional Expert Driving Finance Transformation
Responsibilities
- Solution Design & Implementation : Conduct deep‑dive analyses of complex client requirements through virtual workshops and process mapping sessions. Translate business needs into robust, scalable, best‑practice‑aligned solution designs, configure market‑leading cloud applications, build financial models, develop integration workflows, and create sophisticated reports and dashboards.
- Functional Solution Design : Lead the functional design of financial systems, conducting workshops with Controllers and FP&A Directors to define Chart of Accounts structures, design financial consolidation logic, and map "Record‑to‑Report" or "Plan‑to‑Perform" processes, ensuring alignment with IFRS / GAAP and strategic reporting needs.
- Finance Transformation : Advise clients on best‑practice finance operating models, streamline period‑end close cycles, automate reconciliation processes, and design driver‑based forecasting models that provide actionable commercial insights.
- Client Collaboration : Serve as the translator between IT and Finance, managing relationships with finance stakeholders across Europe and articulating how cloud solutions impact day‑to‑day accounting operations and strategic planning.
- Project Delivery : Manage specific functional workstreams (e.g., General Ledger, Consolidation, Planning) with autonomy. Own the creation of functional specifications, UAT scripts, and training materials for finance users.
- On‑site Engagement : While primarily based in Belfast (hybrid), travel to client sites across Europe for critical design workshops and go‑live support, ensuring the "human" side of finance transformation is managed effectively.
The Profile We're Looking For
Experience : 2–10 years in Finance Transformation, FP&A, or Core Accounting, with exposure to implementing financial software.Professional Qualifications : Recognised accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CPA, ACA or European equivalent) is highly desirable. Deep understanding of financial statements, double‑entry bookkeeping, and consolidation rules is essential.Essential Background : Experience within a Big 4, Finance Transformation practice, or top‑tier consulting firm is highly preferred. Alternatively, industry professionals (Finance Managers, Systems Accountants) with strong project experience are welcome.Functional & Technical Expertise : Strong understanding of financial processes and hands‑on functional experience with leading platforms – Oracle Cloud ERP (GL, AP, AR, FA); Workday Financials or SAP S / 4HANA; Oracle EPM (FCCS, PBSC), OneStream or Anaplan.Client‑Facing Skills : Ability to discuss variance analysis with a Financial Controller and data integrations with an IT Lead. Excels at solving complex functional problems (e.g., intercompany eliminations, multi‑currency reporting).Languages : Fluency in English is essential.
