The Role:

The Service Manager at Snowy River Caravans is responsible for overseeing and coordinating day-to-day activities on the service floor to ensure efficient workflow, high-quality output, and adherence to safety standards. This role involves leading a team of technicians, monitoring performance, providing on-the-job training, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The Service Manager plays a key role in maintaining production schedules, resolving issues in real-time, and fostering a positive, collaborative work environment aligned with company goals and values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a team of technicians to ensure daily targets are met safely, efficiently, and to quality standards.
  • Allocate tasks and resources effectively, adjusting plans as needed to maintain workflow and minimise downtime.
  • Monitor team performance and productivity, providing on-the-job coaching, guidance, and support to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Review and interpret technical drawings, job sheets, and work instructions, ensuring team members fully understand their tasks and responsibilities.
  • Inspect completed work for quality and compliance and promptly address any faults or deviations from specifications.
  • Enforce company safety protocols and promote a safety-first culture, ensuring all team members comply with Health and Safety Policies and maintain a clean, hazard-free work environment.
  • Support team development through cross-training, mentoring, and participation in skill-building initiatives to enhance team flexibility and capability.
  • Act as a key communication point between team members and senior leadership, escalating production issues, safety concerns, or resource needs as required.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline processes, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
  • Support the onboarding and training of new staff to ensure consistency and alignment with company standards.

You will need to demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in a production or manufacturing environment, ideally within caravan, automotive, or similar industries
  • Demonstrated experience in a Service Manager or supervisory role, with the ability to motivate and guide a team effectively
  • Strong knowledge of production processes, tools, and equipment, including hand and power tools
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and production schedules accurately
  • Sound understanding of workplace health and safety regulations and quality assurance standards
  • Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate team collaboration and issue resolution
  • Physically fit and able to perform manual handling tasks and stand for extended periods
