About the position
The Communications and Members’ Support Officer performs an important function in the Department of the Legislative Assembly. They provide administrative, communications and research support to the operations of the House, Committees, and Members, and are assigned to one of the Department's three business units (with the opportunity for rotation subject to business needs).
The Communications and Members’ Support Officer assigned to the House and Procedure business unit provides administrative support and research assistance to Legislative Assembly Members, supports the delivery of procedural training, and is responsible for the production and publication of official House Records on sitting days. On non-sitting days, the position provides administrative, communications and research support for the Department and has the opportunity to work with teams across Parliament to assist delivery of key projects.
The Communications and Members' Support Officer assigned to the Scrutiny and Engagement business unit provides administrative and research support for Legislative Assembly-administered Committees. Committee staff typically work in small teams to organise committee meetings and hearings, research and write reports, and provide advice to Members of Parliament. The position also assists with the production of communications material in support of the Department's community outreach and engagement activities.
The Communications and Members' Support Officer assigned to the Office of the Clerk business unit supports the Department in upholding its strategic, governance and risk responsibilities, and works on key corporate projects. The position also provides executive support to the Department's senior management team, liaises with Legislative Assembly Members and assists with organising inter-parliamentary activities.
