If you've been building software for a while and find yourself wanting more than just feature tickets and sprint cycles, this might be worth a look.

We're working on a SaaS platform that's already out there doing its job - solid B2B product, good traction, used by clients who actually rely on it. That said, there's work to do. We're now in the phase where it's about modernising, scaling, and doing things better. The technical foundations matter, and we're at the point where sharper engineering leadership will make a big difference.

We are looking for someone to come in as a Technical Lead - someone who can guide the team technically, help us ask better questions, and be across both code and context. You won't be managing people directly, but you will be a go-to person for technical decisions and delivery. You'll work closely with the Head of Engineering, CTO and CEO and be involved from thinking through a problem to seeing it land in production.

Responsibilities

Leading technical delivery day-to-day - shaping and building services, features, and fixes
Working across the business to figure out what's actually needed (and not just what's written down)
Helping the team stay unblocked, focused, and on the right track
Writing code yourself - this isn't a planning-only role
Taking a product lens to your work - how we build it and why it matters

Qualifications

Have solid experience with TypeScript, Node, React, and MongoDB - not just exposure, but deep enough to lead with

Have worked in a SaaS or microservices environment and know the trade-offs

Are comfortable breaking down a monolith, improving what's there, and designing new services

Care about building things the right way, but aren\'t precious about tech choices

Understand the basics of AWS (Fargate, RDS, etc.) - enough to get things running securely and efficiently

Want to be close to the product, close to the team, and have space to do good work

Stack

TypeScript / Node / React

MongoDB / NoSQL

AWS (RDS, Fargate, S3, etc.)

CI / CD, secure coding practices, REST APIs

A mix of modern services and legacy bits we're working to improve

The practical stuff

Based in North Sydney

Hybrid setup - some office time is expected, especially early on

Salary is up to $180K + Super

You'll report directly to the Head of Engineering.
