The Darlot mine is located about 900 km northeast of Perth and 121 km north of Leonora, in the Goldfields Region of Western Australia.
Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, the Production Engineer is responsible for day-to-day technical support to underground mining activities, including drill and blast design and short-term scheduling. The Production Engineer will support the Mine Foreman and serve as a conduit between operations and technical services to deliver safe, cost-effective and optimised production plans and schedules that achieve the physical targets set for the mine.
The role will report on the mine's ongoing physical performance, as well as assist with contractor management to ensure mining schedules are adhered to.
The position will be offered on an 8 : 6 FIFO roster from Perth.
Key responsibilities of this role will include :
Create drill designs and charge plans that align with weekly production schedules, ensuring efficient ore breakage and minimal dilution.
Review actual stope performance against design, including tonnes, grade, dilution, and recovery. Identify discrepancies, document findings, and communicate learnings across the team to drive ongoing design and execution improvements.
Generate stope shapes and notes that maximise ore recovery while maintaining ground stability and adhering to operational constraints.
Collaborate with the Senior Mining Engineer and Mine Foreman to develop and implement weekly production schedules.
Assist with the creation of daily production plans in consultation with shift supervisors, considering crew and equipment availability.
Plan and coordinate remote bogging activities to meet production deliverables.
Manage explosives orders and reconcile with estimated consumption to support uninterrupted production.
Supervise and audit underground production activities to ensure production and safety targets are achieved.
Regularly review and challenge mine production practices in consultation with the Senior Mining Engineer to identify and implement improvements.
Collate, review, and report on daily and weekly production data; support end-of-month data collection and reconciliation processes.
Monitor mining contractor performance against contract obligations, operational plans, and approved procedures.
About You
Formal qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related tertiary discipline, with proven operational experience, including a minimum of one year in production-focused activities. Extensive expertise in underground drill-and-blast practices.
Excellent knowledge of the statutory requirements of the Western Australian Mining Act and Regulations, as well as the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act.
Demonstrated ability in time management, organisation, and communication, with a strong attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to utilise mine design software (Deswik preferred) or similar CAD tools, as well as ventilation simulation software such as VentSim.
Hold a Western Australian C Class manual driver's licence.
Western Australian Dangerous Goods Security Card.
