Where you'll be working
Sydney Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospital has a history of nursing and medical firsts. It offers a unique blend of general and specialist medical services, including 24‑hour emergency services, general medicine, perioperative services, and specialist hand and eye surgery. The hospital is located in central Sydney, near Martin Place, St James Station, and transport options include bus, rail, and ferry.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Clinical Nurse Consultant in SESLHD General Medicine, you will provide clinical service and consultancy, clinical leadership, research, education, and clinical services planning and management. You will play a pivotal role in providing clinical advice and support to patients, nursing staff, and other health professionals across wards and units. Responsibilities include proactive participation in multidisciplinary mortality and morbidity and patient case review meetings, coordinating the management and response for Clinical Emergency Response Systems, overseeing collection and reporting of CERS data, and supporting patient safety programs such as Sepsis Pathway, Delirium, End of Life, and advanced care directives.
Selection Criteria
Registered with AHPRA as a registered nurse and current NSW driver’s licence; willing to travel as required.At least 5 years full‑time equivalent post registration experience; at least 3 years in specialty field; approved postgraduate nursing / midwifery qualifications relevant to role.Demonstrated ability to apply clinical expertise in a consultant role and work independently.Proven clinical leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary framework with commitment to excellence in nursing practice.Demonstrated use of critical thinking in delivery of advanced evidence‑based nursing care.Experience in leading and implementing change, developing direction in clinical practice through evidence‑based research.Effective interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication, advanced computer skills and use of software for data analysis and reporting.Ability to contribute to strategic and clinical service planning.Information for Applicants
