Position Overview

We’re seeking a dynamic and experienced Design Manager to lead engineering activities across Intium’s project portfolio. In this pivotal role, you’ll be responsible for managing the scope, program, and budget of complex engineering projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery. You’ll coordinate multidisciplinary teams, oversee design documentation, and drive innovation while maintaining high standards of quality, compliance, and constructability. This is a fantastic opportunity to influence project outcomes, challenge conventional approaches, and contribute to the success of large-scale infrastructure and energy transition initiatives.

Your ability to lead with integrity, communicate effectively, and adapt to change makes you a trusted partner in delivering high-impact projects.

About your skills

You bring exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present complex design concepts to diverse audiences. Your strengths include strategic and tactical thinking, negotiation and influencing, and a creative mindset that embraces continuous improvement. You’re adept at balancing design aspirations with technical, financial, and business constraints, and have a strong grasp of research, analysis, and user‑centred design.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering, Project Management, or demonstrated capability through relevant experience and / or qualifications.

Desired experience

• Proven experience in Design Management, particularly on large-scale infrastructure or energy transition projects
• In‑depth knowledge of HV substations, transmission design, grid connection requirements, renewable energy, and EVCI technologies
• Strong understanding of Australian and International Standards and Codes of Practice
• Practical experience in design and construction, including safety in design and cost efficiency strategies
• Ability to manage complex tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to evolving technologies and processes
• Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to design and specifications
