Senior Software Engineer - Java

About the role

As part of the Payments and Cards team you will be responsible for providing software development in Java for the Payments & Cards team within Transformation and Technology. This position holds the delegated responsibility and accountability for delivering exceptional banking services, products, and applications directly used by customers. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of solutions, aligning them with business objectives, ensuring reliability, scalability, and an outstanding user experience.

This role is offered as a 12-month Fixed Term Contract with potential to extend or permanency,

Typical Responsibilities will include :

• Software Development : Provide expert technical leadership and guidance to the Payments & Cards team on software engineering solutions and implementations with strong focus on Java
• Integration : Collaborate with architects and other stakeholders to oversee the design of scalable, reliable, and secure Payments & Cards solutions that meet business requirements, strategic goals and security and compliance requirements.
• Change Management : Lead and oversee changes into production, ensuring that development, design, testing, and verification adhere to strict ITIL standards and maintain strong Secure Stable & Resilient (SSR) standards, minimising impacts to customers and staff.
• Team Collaboration : Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product owners, delivery leads and analysts, to ensure effective collaboration and seamless integration of Payment & Cards platforms with other systems and applications.
• Technical Documentation : Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including software development lifecycle, architecture diagrams and design specifications to ensure clarity and maintainability of customer platform solutions

About you :

You are highly adept in collaborating with your team and technology representatives to bring out the best in the internally developed applications. You will be intimately familiar with what the applications can do and deliver business value by automating complex processes and ensuring the applications are clean and efficient. You are the “go to” expert for the internally developed applications from both a functionality and technical perspective.
