VPS6 - Senior Workforce Relations Specialist

Are you an experienced VPS6 Senior Workforce Relations Specialist with a passion for navigating complex environments and driving meaningful change? Do you thrive in challenging situations, are resilient, and possess strong emotional intelligence? We are seeking a Senior Workforce Relations Specialist to join our client's team in the public sector in Melbourne. This role offers an exciting opportunity for those who have a deep understanding of union management and industrial relations (IR), and are ready to make an impact in a dynamic and evolving organisation.

Key Responsibilities :

Manage and navigate union relations, particularly during current EBA negotiations.

Provide expert advice on industrial relations, including interpreting and advising on awards, agreements, and legislation.

Lead the development and implementation of workforce relations strategies to maintain positive, productive relationships within a highly unionised environment.

Handle difficult situations and environments with resilience and pragmatism, maintaining clear boundaries while building long-term relationships.

Support the ongoing development of HR processes and policies, ensuring alignment with strategic workforce goals.

Travel may be required depending on the specific needs of the role.

Key Qualifications & Skills :

Strong resilience and emotional intelligence, with a proven track record of navigating complex union-management dynamics.

Significant experience in industrial relations, particularly in a public sector or highly unionised environment.

Ability to handle challenging and evolving situations with a pragmatic, problem-solving approach.

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to earn trust and influence at all levels.

Ability to think outside the box and approach problems as puzzles to be solved.
