We are looking for driven and talented individuals to join the Retail Banking Services (RBS) Lending Line 1 Risk Centre of Excellence (COE).

The Consumer Finance Line 1 Risk team provides guidance on the practical application of the Group’s risk management frameworks through SME support and advice. As trusted risk advisers our team provides specialist advice across all elements of the ORMF. Our key activities include :

  • Supporting the business to identify and rectify Issues and Incidents in a timely manner.
  • Conducting thorough root cause analysis on all Issues and Incidents and ensuring rectification plans address root cause.
  • Ensure business activities comply with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintaining and embedding the Change Management Risk (CMR) framework through facilitation of risk workshops and risk assessments
  • Completion of risk and control self-assessments to proactively identify, assess, and manage risks in the consumer finance risk profile.
  • Providing sound and commercially viable risk advice in line with the Group ORMF

In this role, you will join a high-performing team supporting our business’ consumer finance product offerings, helping our customers manage cash flows, purchase digitally, earn rewards, and make seamless and secure transactions.

As a manager, you will provide risk management support for a multi-year platform and process modernisation program by identifying potential risks, advising proactively, and helping to reduce risks through simplification and automation. You will collaborate with stakeholders to ensure product and process changes are delivered safely and comply with Group standards.

We’re interested in hearing from people who aspire to

  • Assist to appropriately manage the Change Management Risk framework, whilst ensuring the control environment is maintained.
  • Maintain and embed requirements of the Risk Management Framework and for the platform modernisation program to enable the suite of product and process changes meet the objectives of the business.
  • Complete Change Risk assessments to provide forward-looking delivered risk assessments and identification of risk-reducing mitigants, processes, and controls to manage operational and system risks in the program.
  • Facilitate pre-mortems, risk sync workshops and forums and provide robust challenge where required.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders within the modernisation program, across the Group and Line 1 and Line 2 Operational risk teams to identify risks.
  • Ensure effective design of controls for all new and changing processes.
  • Updating the Consumer Finance risk profile in RiskInSite following changes.
  • Assist in regular and ad hoc risk reporting to ensure focus and visibility on key projects and risks.
  • Understand the evolution of RBS’ risk framework and other Group policies and assist the business to comply with risk management policy.
  • Other qualities you may possess include

  • Experience in operational and compliance risks within banking including Change Management Risk.
  • Strong reasoning and influencing skills to work with senior stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Consumer Finance or retail lending products, processes, and systems
  • Experience in performing reviews of critical processes to identify what can go wrong, control gaps / weaknesses and / or optimisation opportunities is desirable
  • Being able to independently deliver for large projects and initiatives in diverse environments and interact with all levels of stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyse trends, identify critical threats and opportunities, diagnose problems and issues, and recommend appropriate actions
  • Well-developed written communication skills and ability to articulate ideas clearly and effectively
