Employment type: Full-time Ongoing
Salary: $105,040.00 pa + Incidental Allowance + Leave Loading + Superannuation

Your role:

We are looking for a proactive and dedicated Aboriginal Senior Overseer to work within our Creative Work Centre at the Bathurst Correctional Centre

What you’ll do:

As the Senior Trade Overseer, you will:

  • Lead and supervise activities within the Aboriginal Creative Work Centre.
  • Mentor and guide inmates through hands-on creative and cultural work programs.
  • Support the production of Aboriginal cultural art and crafts, including:
    woodworking, boomerang making, didgeridoo painting and decoration
    Cultural artwork and creative pieces
  • Encourage the development of practical skills, discipline and cultural understanding.
  • Support the creation of commercial cultural artworks and products.
  • Work collaboratively with the centre and community to promote cultural engagement and positive outcomes.

Qualifications Required:

  • Current Certificate III in Correctional Practice or capacity to complete Certificate III in Correctional Practice in accordance with specified CSNSW timeframes. (Primary training to be provided by CSNSW)
  • Current NSW Driver Licence and preparedness to drive a vehicle while performing the role.
  • Relevant trade qualifications/Experience: Aboriginal Arts, Crafts & Cultural Studies or willingness to obtain a Trade Certificate within CSNSW specified timeframes.

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience in Aboriginal Arts, Crafts & Cultural Studies
  • Experience which demonstrates the ability to meet the key accountabilities and focus capabilities as detailed in the Senior Overseer role description.
  • Ability and willingness to work across trades as required in a flexible manner.
  • Must be willing to participate in 24/7 on call roster where required.
