Job description

The Health Service provides a wide range of primary care, acute, and specialist services.

The area offers a unique lifestyle suitable for a variety of interests. Located in the heart of the tropical north, it is the primary gateway to northern Australia. This town is an ideal base to explore the wider region, with access to the Great Barrier Reef, rainforests, and outback locations.

Remuneration is up to $484,807 per annum (L25 – L27) or up to $443,589 per annum (L18 – L24), including employer contributions to superannuation (up to 12.75%), annual leave loading (17.5%), professional development allowance, motor vehicle allowance, and 3.6 weeks of professional development leave annually. Private practice arrangements are also available.

The successful candidate will be an energetic, innovative practitioner willing to participate actively in the ongoing organizational and clinical development of the ICU.

Good communication skills and a commitment to ensuring the best clinical outcomes for patients and families are essential.

The team comprises experienced emergency physicians within a supportive multidisciplinary environment, with a strong focus on teaching. The hospital has an accredited Paediatric Emergency Department, an active Ultrasound program, and Simulation supported by SSP trainees. There is scope for further progression in geriatrics and toxicology, fostering a positive workplace culture, innovation, and support.

Qualifications required include being a Fellow of the Australasian College for Intensive Care Medicine or an equivalent qualification, and registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist Registration.
