For a local council in Perth we are currently looking for a Supervisor Mechanical Services. The role will be available for 38 hours per week for the duration of 6 months.

  • OBJECTIVES
  • To provide supervision and leadership to Council's mechanical services.
  • To co-ordinate, plan and organise implementation and timely completion on routine maintenance, repairs and preventative maintenance procedures to Council's vehicles, plant and equipment.
  • To assist the section in providing a high quality service to internal and external customers.
  • REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB
  • Qualifications / Training / Experience_
  • Possession of Trade qualification or Associate Diploma in Automotive Engineering.
  • Possession of a recognized frontline management qualification.
  • Considerable experience in supervision of mechanical services staff
  • Considerable experience in the maintenance of mobile plant, heavy equipment and agricultural machinery.
  • Current Western Australian "C" Class (or higher) Drivers Licence.
  • Possession of safety awareness card.
  • Experience in the safe operation of engineering plant and equipment.
  • Sound experience in planning and scheduling.
  • Skills_
  • Sound planning, organising and problem solving skills.
  • Good vehicle and plant repairs and maintenance skills.
  • Ability to supervise a workforce.
  • Ability to supervise external contractors.
  • Good personnel management skills and ability to motivate staff.
  • Good written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Intermediate keyboard and computer literacy skills, particularly in MS Office package
  • Well developed time management skills.
  • Knowledge_
  • Sound knowledge of repair and maintenance techniques.
  • Sound knowledge of costing processes.
  • Sound knowledge of Acts, Local Laws, Council Policies (internal and external) relating to area of responsibility.
  • General knowledge of current Human Resources management principles.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health legislation as related to the position.
