What you’ll be doing…

As Leader Security Operations, you’ll be at the heart of keeping our people, customers, and operations safe. Within the Group Security Department, you’ll lead a high-performing team to deliver best-practice security across Virgin Australia’s network, ensuring compliance with Australian and international aviation security regulations, our Transport Security Program, and internal security procedures.This role will report through to the Head of Group Security.

This is a role where leadership meets technical expertise. You’ll manage compliance programs, oversee audits, investigate incidents, and provide security advice across the business. You’ll also engage with government agencies and industry partners to influence emerging security requirements and ensure Virgin Australia remains ahead of the curve.

When serious security incidents happen, you’ll take charge — providing leadership and direction during time-critical situations and corporate emergency responses. You’ll also champion continuous improvement, shaping policies, procedures, and training that keep our security culture strong.

You’ll be great in this role if you have…

• Demonstrated experience in either aviation, corporate security or regulatory compliance roles.
• Experience in leading high-performing small teams .
• Strong capability in risk assessments, compliance, audits and investigations.
• Ability to interpret and apply complex legislation.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Eligibility for a Negative Vetting Level 1 Security Clearance and for an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).

Desirable

• Qualifications in Aviation Security, Security Risk Management or Investigations.
• ICAO Aviation Security Professional Manager (or equivalent).
• Understanding of domestic and international aviation security frameworks (Aviation Transport Security Act & Regulations
