This role will be based onsite at our Avington Point Cook Village, located in Point Cook, Victoria. It is a vibrant over 50’s lifestyle community designed for those seeking an active and fulfilling lifestyle. Surrounded by natural beauty and close to essential amenities, the village offers modern, low-maintenance homes and a range of premium facilities, including a Clubhouse equipped with swimming pool, gym, sauna library and sports bar.

We are currently looking for a Full-Time Grounds & Maintenance Supervisor to join our team on a full-time basis.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Village Manager, you will be responsible for the overall upkeep and improvement of our grounds, gardens and facilities, as well as general maintenance of our Village. You will oversee a small team.

You must enjoy working around people and be able to communicate easily and confidently putting forward a positive feel to team members and guests. You will take pride in your appearance, be self-motivated, have an eye for detail, a passion for maintenance, grounds and gardens, and a willingness to learn and apply learnt knowledge.

REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in grounds and property maintenance in a hospitality environment. The successful applicant will require a manual driver's licence.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Staff Supervision : Oversee and support staff with a strong focus on WH&S compliance, ensuring safe work practices are always followed.
  • Gardening & Grounds Maintenance : Perform general garden and grounds upkeep, including leaf blowing, rubbish and debris removal, and maintaining the presentation of all outdoor areas. Report any hazards or unsafe conditions promptly.
  • General Maintenance : Carry out basic repairs and maintenance of village property. Demonstrated handyperson skills and experience are highly regarded.
  • Facility Maintenance : Maintain buildings, plant equipment, and communal areas. Experience in grounds maintenance, carpentry, and the safe use of power tools and equipment is desirable.
  • Project Management & Scheduling : Coordinate and carry out preventative maintenance tasks. Support external trades and service providers to ensure timely completion of works and effective communication with the Guest Services team.
  • Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) : Conduct toolbox talks, complete OH&S assessments, and ensure ongoing compliance with all relevant safety regulations.
  • Customer Service & Team Leadership : Lead a small team while engaging with residents, contractors, and management in a professional, respectful, and courteous manner.

You Will Bring :

  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment, with experience in training, supervising, and leading others.
  • Solid knowledge of grounds and site maintenance principles, practices, and techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively.
  • A current and valid driver’s licence.
  • Qualifications in Landscape, Horticulture, or a related field.
  • Experience and understanding of chemical handling procedures.
  • A strong working knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) regulations and safe work practices.
  • This is a salaried position.
