Job description

Lutheran Aged Care Albury is seeking a Lifestyle Assistant to join their team. The successful applicant will be responsible for implementing, supervising, and managing lifestyle activities for care recipients.

The role involves regular consultation with care recipients to evaluate the effectiveness of lifestyle programs and update them as required. The Lifestyle Assistant will also communicate with the Team Leader regarding resources allocated to the program, care recipient needs, and volunteer management.

Position Objectives

  • Support and implement the Mission, Philosophy, and Values of Lutheran Aged Care
  • Provide direct assistance with physical, mental, and recreational activities to maintain care recipients' independence and individual lifestyle
  • Work according to the Policies, Procedures, and Work Practices of the Organization
  • Operate within the relevant legislative framework
  • Maintain all relevant documentation
  • Support WHS Acts & Regulations
  • Attend relevant meetings and education sessions
  • Participate in Quality Improvements programs

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Possession of qualifications in Diversional Therapy, Leisure and Lifestyle, or other relevant qualifications
  • Current knowledge of and experience in aged care
  • Proven understanding of the needs of older people in a residential aged care setting
  • High level of communication (oral and written)
  • Knowledge of clinical / medical issues relevant to older people
  • Experience in organizing events / activities
  • Key Accountabilities

    Communication

  • Regular liaison with Lifestyle Coordinator on programs, care recipient reviews, and volunteer management issues
  • Liaison with stakeholders on issues linked to the lifestyle program
  • Liaison with relatives on care recipients' social needs and promoting involvement in activities
  • Good written and verbal expression
  • Provide reports and articles for newsletters as required
  • Education / Training

  • Demonstrated education and training in aged care
  • Organisational

  • Coordinate own work routine and care recipient activities as scheduled
  • Complete all required documentation
  • Prepare, communicate, and regularly review care recipient programs
  • Prepare reports as required
  • Ensure office, work, and store areas are kept neat and tidy
  • Team

  • Work as a member of the LAC Team to implement the organization's philosophy
  • Meet with the team at staff meetings and training sessions
  • Assist in setting and achieving group goals
  • Communicate concerns / issues as they arise

  • Demonstrate initiative
  • Organize own work schedules
  • Follow up on identified issues regarding care recipients
  • Technology

  • Maintain equipment in ready condition for use
  • Train others in the use of equipment as requested
  • Communicate resource needs for the program
  • Maintain the Lifestyle Petty Cash records and ensure all monies are accounted for
  • Ensure timely processing of invoices or accounts to the Accounts department
