Database Engineer (GCP)

We are seeking a Database Engineer to own the reliability, performance, and security of mission‑critical databases across multi‑cloud environments. In this role, you will work closely with DevOps, SRE, and application teams to ensure our database platforms are scalable, secure, and highly available.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle databases
- Monitor, tune, and optimize database performance and capacity
- Design, manage, and test backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
- Implement and maintain database security, access controls, and compliance standards
- Configure and support replication, clustering, and high‑availability solutions
- Automate routine DBA tasks using scripting and tooling
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex database incidents and performance issues
- Maintain clear documentation for database configurations, procedures, and runbooks
- Collaborate closely with DevOps, SRE, and development teams to support CI / CD and cloud initiatives
Requirements
Strong hands‑on experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, and / or Oracle administrationProven experience in database performance tuning, replication, and high availabilityScripting and automation skills using Shell, Python, or similar languagesExperience with CI / CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab CI)Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and AnsibleExperience with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)Working knowledge of GCP CloudStrong understanding of database security best practicesNice to have
Experience supporting large‑scale, distributed systemsExposure to multi‑cloud or hybrid environmentsKnowledge of compliance frameworks and data governance standardsWe offer
