Geotechnical Engineer

Overview

Join Our Growing Geotechnical Team in Perth! Our WA Geotechnical Team is expanding and we want you to be part of it. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working on small to medium scale projects that deliver real impact for clients while pushing the envelope.

Responsibilities

Develop effective geotechnical design solutions across various scenarios and sectors.

Prepare design memos and reports, implementing advice into specifications and drawing notes.

Scope, price, supervise and deliver appropriate geotechnical site investigation works in support of larger design packages.

Supervise or train junior personnel in site investigation works to AS, where required.

Collaborate confidently and effectively with external partners, clients and subcontractors as well as internal stakeholders and colleagues.

Assist the Geotechnical Lead in client relationship development, team training and mentoring, and fostering strong interdepartmental relationships.

Qualifications

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a Master's in Geotechnical Engineering.

Ideally 5–15 years of relevant experience in Geotechnical Engineering within an Australian Engineering consultancy.

Strong technical and reporting skills in retaining wall / slope design, soil-structure interaction problems, and construction phase reporting.

Proficiency in using software packages such as Plaxis 2D & 3D / Slide2, Slope / W or equivalent.

Expert-level Excel or programming skills in JS, VBA, Python, etc. would be advantageous.

Sound understanding of relevant engineering standards and guidelines, including AS, AS and AS, as well as familiarity with CIRIA C760 and Eurocode 7 (Geotechnical), and AS and AS (Structural).

Will be working towards Chartered Status and Professional Engineering accreditation.
