Lake Macquarie City Council is on an ambitious digital transformation journey, guided by our Digital Strategy 2025–2029. At the heart of this is data : ensuring our decisions are informed, our services are smarter, and our community outcomes are stronger.

We are seeking a Data and Analytics Lead to establish and grow a high-performing function responsible for enterprise data platforms, integration services, reporting, and AI-enabled tools. This leadership role combines strategic direction with hands-on expertise, ensuring data and insights are reliable, secure, and accessible across the organisation.

Your other key focus areas are :

  • Build and manage Council’s enterprise data, reporting, and integration platforms.
  • Drive a robust data governance framework, ensuring data is clean, consistent, and trusted.
  • Deliver business intelligence and reporting tools that enable self-service insights across all levels of Council.
  • Lead the design and delivery of system integrations that enable seamless end-to-end processes and reusable data flows.
  • Introduce and embed the ethical and effective use of AI assistants and automation tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT) to enhance staff capability and customer service.
  • Provide expert advice to executives and managers, ensuring data and insights inform key strategic and operational decisions.
  • Mentor and develop a small, specialised team including database, BI, integration, and AI specialists.
  • Tertiary qualifications in information management, computer science, analytics or related fields, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Significant experience leading enterprise data and analytics functions in complex organisations.
  • Strong expertise in data governance, integration platforms, and enterprise reporting tools.
  • Demonstrated success in translating business needs into actionable data solutions and insights.
  • Experience introducing or managing AI-enabled tools and assistants in a business environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and translate technical concepts into practical outcomes.
  • A collaborative leadership style that builds capability, fosters innovation, and delivers measurable impact.
