  • Responsibilities
  • 1. Provide direct care and support to individuals with mental health challenges in their home environment, while promoting independence and maintaining their overall well-being.

    2. Assist with personal care tasks, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and medication management, while ensuring the dignity and privacy of clients.

    3. Monitor and assess the mental health and emotional well-being of clients on a regular basis, reporting any changes or concerns to the supervising healthcare professionals.

    4. Utilize effective communication and active listening skills to establish rapport and build trust with clients, promoting a supportive and safe environment.

    5. Create and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with clients, their families, and other healthcare professionals, tailoring the support to meet their unique needs and goals.

    6. Provide emotional support and encouragement, promoting self-esteem and self-advocacy for clients.

    7. Coordinate and communicate with family members, medical professionals, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the overall care plan is being followed and adjusted as required.

    8. Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation related to client care, including progress notes, incident reports, and care plans.

    • Job Requirements
    • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Support Worker, preferably in a homecare setting, with a focus on mental health clients.
    • Demonstrated experience in handling and supporting individuals with mental health challenges, including knowledge of various mental health disorders and their symptoms.
    • Valid certification in First Aid and CPR.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate with clients, family members, and other healthcare professionals.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing situations.
    • Compassion, empathy, and patience in working with individuals with mental health challenges.
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
    • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
    • Completed or in-progress certifications or diplomas in areas such as mental health support, social work, or a related field are an asset.
