About The Opportunity

Are you a Software Engineer with a strong optimisation background looking to take on a high-impact, technically challenging role? This is your chance to build something meaningful an intelligent assignment engine that optimises the movement and utilisation of autonomous mining fleets.

You ll be joining a small, highly specialised team that acts like an internal consultancy jumping between projects, lifting standards across teams, and solving complex problems. The focus here is deep technical work, hands-on coding, and mathematical modelling turning abstract equations into software that delivers operational value.

This is a 12-month contract offering up to $110 per hour + Super, with flexibility around working from home (approx. 3 days per week). If you're the right fit, there s a long-term pathway ahead.

About You

We re looking for a technically strong engineer who brings a rare mix of :

Optimisation Expertise You ve worked on real-world optimisation problems (linear programming, route planning, algorithm design) and know how to guide others in this space.Software Engineering Skills You ve built complex systems before and can bring models into production. You re comfortable with C# or open to switching from Python, Java, C++, or MATLAB.Clear Communication Ideally, you can explain mathematical logic in a straightforward way to architects, engineers, and stakeholders.

You likely have 7+ years of commercial experience and at least 3 years working on optimisation-based projects but we re flexible if the experience is right.

Experience in mining tech or real-time systems is a bonus, but not a dealbreaker.

Key Responsibilities

Design and build the core optimisation engine for assigning tasks to autonomous fleetsDevelop proofs of concept, guide technical direction, and turn models into scalable codeCollaborate with architects, engineers, and mathematicians to solve real-world problemsLead technical initiatives and contribute to delivery planningMentor other engineers in optimisation and software engineering best practices
