The opportunity
CSIRO is seeking a PhD-qualified entomologist to join the Australian National Insect Collection (ANIC) within the National Research Collections Australia. As part of a research collaboration with the Department of Agriculture Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) this role will focus on producing a comprehensive morphology-based monograph of 150 Cerambycidae (longhorn beetle) species of quarantine concern including identification keys diagnostic files and DNA barcodes.
Working under the guidance of Dr Adam lipiski the successful applicant will contribute to world-class research in insect taxonomy and systematics and also support the upcoming volume of the Australian Beetles series.
ANIC is Australias largest insect collection and part of CSIROs broader natural history research hub which integrates taxonomy diagnostics genomics and ecology with national biosecurity priorities.

A taxonomic review of approximately 150 species
Location : Black Mountain Canberra Australia
Salary : AU$114k - AU$123k plus up to 15.4% superannuation
Tenure : Specified term of 3 years
