We’re on the lookout for a skilled and experienced Crane Technician to join our team. You’ll play a critical role in keeping our cranes operating safely and efficiently across the Whyalla Steelworks and Mining businesses.

We’re on the lookout for a skilled and experienced Crane Technician to join our team. You’ll play a critical role in keeping our cranes operating safely and efficiently across the Whyalla Steelworks and Mining businesses.

Your Day-to-day

• Perform routine inspections and maintenance on overhead cranes, hoists, jib cranes and lifting gear
• Respond to emergency repair needs quickly and safely
• Complete inspection checklists, document defects and recommend fixes
• Work with planning teams on maintenance scheduling
• Contribute to safety, investigations and continuous improvement initiatives

SIMEC Mining Iron Ore has operations in South Australia and New South Wales. Our Iron Ore operation in South Australia’s Middleback Ranges South of Whyalla consists of three primary sites : Iron Baron, Iron Knob and the South Middleback Ranges. We also have a portfolio of non-ferrous mining assets located in South Australia, including the Ardrossan Dolomite Mine – which supplies dolomite flux to Whyalla Steelworks – as well as a collection of copper-gold exploration projects.
