Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC) is a maximum-security remand facility based in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne. Prisoners on remand are alleged offenders who were not bailed when charged with a crime and are awaiting the outcome of their court case.

At the Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC), each Team Leader role specialises in one of seven streams - Reception Services, Youth Services, Records / Property, Human Resources, Stores / Canteen, Infrastructure / Technology / Finance and Administration.
The Youth Worker position at the Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC) is a unique role aimed at working closely with young offenders to break down the recidivism cycle. The MRC's youth profile consists of 18-25-year-old prisoners, this comprises approximately one fifth of the MRC's general population. The Youth Worker role is a central component of the MRC's commitment to a targeted youth response.
