Role : Electrical Engineer

Contract Type : Permanent Full Time

Starting Date & Probation period : Immediately. There will be a 6 months’ probation period

Reports to Role : Engineering Lead

Ordinary Hours of Work : 38 hrs / week, some additional hours as required, Monday to Friday

Renumeration : In accordance with industry standards and based on experience plus Superannuation

Primary Purpose & Responsibilities of Position

As an Electrical Engineer you will play a crucial role through effectively designing, developing, testing, installing and maintaining electrical systems and components whilst ensuring high standards of safety and quality and contributing to the overall success of manufacturing operations. Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to :

Design and Development :

Creating conceptual and detailed electrical designs and schematics for new products / systems and

modifications.

Developing innovative solutions to meet project requirements and improve existing systems.

Ensuring designs are cost-effective, reliable and meet all safety standards.

Compliance :

Ensuring all electrical designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.

Staying updated with the latest advancements in electrical engineering and industry best practices.

Testing and Validation :

Developing test regimes and designing test equipment specific to the Envirocart system

Conducting rigorous tests to ensure the functionality, performance, and safety of electrical systems.

Analyzing test results and making necessary adjustments to designs.

Documenting test procedures and results for future reference.

Project Management :

Managing electrical engineering projects from concept to completion, meeting technical specifications, cost estimates and deadlines.

Working closely with other engineering disciplines, procurement, planning and production teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.

Providing technical support and guidance to team members and other departments.

Participating in design reviews and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Documentation :

Adhering to company procedures and guidelines and preparing and maintaining detailed documentation for all electrical designs.

Creating technical specifications and user / maintenance manuals.

Troubleshooting :

Providing technical support to the production team and addressing any electrical problems that arise during manufacturing.

Implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence of issues.

Required Technical Competencies & Qualifications

Educational Background :

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.

Professional Experience :

Minimum of 5 years’ experience, preferable in a marine or manufacturing environment.

It would be considered an advantage to have worked in an R&D environment

Technical Skills :

Proven experience in electrical design and project management

Strong understanding of electrical standards and regulations

Experience of PLC coding would be considered an advantage

Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN, MATLAB, PROTEUS, etc.)

Experience with SolidWorks 3D and PDM would be considered an advantage

Ability to work in fast moving ambiguous environment

Ability to work in a team independently and under supervision

Ability to contribute to constant improvement initiatives as the company transitions from R&D to commercialization

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Effective communication and teamwork abilities

Working knowledge of MS Office

High level of proficiency with MS Excel as an analytical tool

Demonstratable strong analytical skills

Excellent communication abilities

Willingness and ability to travel locally and internationally if required
