Join a purpose-driven organisation helping children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) build safety, independence, and confidence through professionally trained Assistance Dogs.
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Assistance Dog Instructor to deliver life-changing programs to children and their families. This full-time role involves assessing and training Assistance Dogs, conducting client training, and working closely with Allied Health professionals to support tailored, evidence-based outcomes.
Train and assess Assistance Dogs in line with Assistance Dog International Standards.
Match dogs to clients and deliver centre-based and home-based training.
Collaborate with Allied Health staff to manage referrals, assessments, and information sessions.
Monitor canine health and refer for veterinary care when needed.
Provide ongoing support and aftercare for Assistance Dog partnerships.
Maintain accurate client, volunteer, and dog records in internal systems and assist in continuous improvement processes.
Support and train volunteer handlers and contribute to program improvement.
Advocate for access and equity for clients and uphold the organisation's values and public image.
Up-to-date knowledge of trends and developments in relation to Assistance Dog services, including training techniques, practices, policies and legislation
Other duties as reasonably required.
