Abra Mining Pty Limited is seeking Project Mine Geologists for a full time position with the company based at our project Abra Mine in Gascoyne region of Western Australia. The project site lies between the towns of Newman and Meekatharra.

This is an exciting time to join Abra as this is a unique deposit style in a new and under-explored mining district in Western Australia.
The Project Mine Geologist is responsible for key technical advice, drill planning and implementation, and in mine methodology of the Abra underground mining centre.
The Project Mine Geologist position requires individuals to illustrate initiative; ensuring that daily mine practices are appropriate in controlling the effective and efficient mining of the Abra ore system as best practical.
- Key duties of the position include
- Assisting with the development of grade control and underground procedures.
- Generate / design and implement grade control drilling programs.
- Assist with the development and implementation of extension and exploration programs within the underground environment.
- Assist with the completion of core logging and the improvement of core data systems.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve geological interpretations of the Abra ore system.
- Assisting with generation, development and maintenance of grade control databases and block models.
- Report on geological activities to the Senior Mine Geologist and Geology Superintendent.
- Assist with the compilation of end of month reports, key statistics, and reconciliation data.
- Develop geological related projects to improve life of mine, reduce cost per ore tonne, and improve the geological understanding of the Abra ore system.
- Assist with budgets and forecasts relating to geological commitments.
- Assist with mine forecasting and scheduling process.
- Assist with and develop QAQC tracking, documentation, and lab audits.
- Fulfil Senior Mine Geologist duties in their absence and at appointment.

- In addition, you will have
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Geology, or Applied Geology or a similar field.
- Current "C" Class Western Australian driver's license.
- 4X4 wheel drive competency Bachelor of Science degree in Geology
- Advanced computer literacy skills with strong Microsoft Office suite skills
- Proficient in the use of geological modelling software; experience with use of Leapfrog Geo software integral.
- Awareness of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations
- An advanced understanding of ore-forming processes and 3D modelling techniques.
- A sound understanding of data management and validation processes.
- A strong grasp of ore-forming processes.
- Minimum 3 years' experience within the resources industry.
- Minimum of 1 years' experience in an underground environment.
- Established approach to being able to effectively source, gather, interpret, and communicate quantitative and qualitative data.
- Exposure to base metal deposits.
- Proven track record in mining processes in an underground environment.
