Position Overview :
Our client, a leading mining company, is seeking an experienced Commercial / Accounting Manager to join their Perth-based executive team. This critical leadership role reports directly to the CEO, functionally to GM and is responsible for overseeing the company's financial, commercial and administrative functions. The successful candidate will possess a strong financial background and significant commercial experience within the mining industry, ideally with operations based in Western Australia.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Financial Oversight
- Develop and drive short- and long-term financial strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
- Provide financial modelling, forecasting, and scenario analysis to support investment decisions.
- Prepare management and board-level reports with clear performance insights.
Accounting & Compliance
Oversee the full financial reporting cycle under Australian Accounting Standards and IFRS.Ensure compliance with tax regulations, audit requirements, and statutory obligations.Lead the external audit process and maintain relationships with auditors and tax advisors.Commercial Management
Review, negotiate, and manage key commercial agreements, supplier contracts.Contribute commercial insights to project management and place internal controls over operations.Align procurement and supplier performance with commercial goals, prepare or review quotations.Budgeting & Cost Control
Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets.Monitor financial performance against budgets and deliver detailed cost analysis.Promote financial discipline and transparency across departments.Leadership & Team Development
Lead the Finance and Administration team to deliver accurate reporting and commercial support.Foster a culture of performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.Mentor team members and support their professional development.Systems & Process Improvement
Oversee ERP and financial systems, ensuring effective reporting and data integrity.Standardise financial processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.Reporting & Communication
Deliver timely, accurate financial reports to the CFO.Ensure all reports meet internal standards and audit requirements.Collaborate with internal teams to embed financial and commercial frameworks.Qualifications & Requirements :
Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, or Finance (CPA or CA preferred)10+ years of senior financial and commercial experience in the mining or heavy industry sectorProven leadership of finance teams in multi-site and cross-border environmentsStrong understanding of Australian financial regulations and reporting standardsSkilled in contract negotiation and commercial risk analysisAdvanced ERP / accounting systems and Excel modelling expertiseExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement skillsWhat Our Client Offers :
